SSU Women Secure Two Top-10 Spots
Georgetown, KY – At the conclusion of the Georgetown Invitational held at Cherry Blossom Golf and Country Club, Shawnee State’s women’s golf team secured two top 10 finishes
Freshman Sidnea Belville finished seventh with a total score of 172, having shot an opening round of 81 and a second-round 91. Belville was five strokes behind the leader, Campbellsville’s Riley Clark, who shot a four-over 76. Belville’s score was the best opening round among all freshmen and underclassmen, with only Georgetown’s Kaelin Stull matching her 81.
Aly Wellman, a returning sophomore, finished ninth with a total of 187 after improving her second-round score by seven strokes. Wellman who posted a strong spring for the Bears to complete her freshman season in 2023-24, finished in a tie for 10th place after the opening day 97.
Bryanna Spencer another freshman competing in her first collegiate golf outing shot a 93 to place herself in ninth after the opening day of competition, The Piketon native shot a 198 total score good for a 12th place finish. Cali Baird and Maggie Siley finished 13th and 15th, respectively. Baird led the group on the second day with a score of 97.
The Shawnee State women’s golf team will next compete at the Ohio Christian Fall Invitational on September 16 and 17.
