Buckeyes Dominate Once Again at the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational

Columbus, Ohio — The Ohio State women’s golf team continues to leave its mark on the greens. This past weekend, the No. 17 Buckeyes claimed their 19th title at the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational, held on their home turf at the OSU Scarlet Course. With this win, they’ve now taken the crown four years in a row — a true testament to their consistency and dominance.

Leading the charge was junior Kary Hollenbaugh, who’s been on fire this spring. She captured the individual title with a stellar final-round 69 (-3), finishing with a 54-hole score of 208 (-8). This marks her fourth win of the spring season, tying the program record for most individual victories in a single season. With 13 birdies and four-under-par scoring on the par 4s, Hollenbaugh once again proved why she’s one of the top players in the nation.

Ohio State closed out the tournament with a seven-under 281 on Sunday, finishing with a team total of 866 (+2), a comfortable 11 strokes ahead of second-place Michigan State. The Buckeyes led the 13-team field in several key stats: pars (175), eagles (2), par 4 scoring (4.15), and par 5 scoring (4.88).

Nellie Ong had a career weekend, finishing fourth overall at 215 (-1). She was clutch on the par 5s, going five-under — tied for best in the field — and collected nine birdies and an eagle along the way.

Faith Choi also delivered her best performance of the season, tying for seventh place at 220 (+4). She led all players with 43 pars and shot an even-par 72 in the final round.

Rounding out the Buckeyes’ impressive showing, Marina Joyce-Moreno surged 25 spots up the leaderboard on Sunday with a four-under 68, tying for 14th at 227 (+11). She carded six birdies during the tournament. Mandy Song tied for 36th, finishing with a total score of 236 (+20).

Competing as individuals, Chloe Lam and Kavya Ajjarapu both had strong showings. Lam posted a career-best 73 (+1) on Sunday and tied for 26th at 231 (+15), while Ajjarapu shot 75 (+3) in the final round and tied for 30th with a total of 232 (+16).
