Shawnee State Women’s Golf Claims Victory at 2025 OCU Spring Invitational

WILLIAMSPORT, Ohio — The Shawnee State women’s golf team made a bold statement at the Ohio Christian University Spring Invitational this week, topping the leaderboard with a dominant performance that placed six of its golfers in the top 10. The Bears finished the two-day event with a team score of 821, edging out Rio Grande by eight strokes and capturing the tournament title.

Held at Crown Hill Golf Course, the event featured challenging conditions, with weather that tested the grit and resilience of every player. Despite the harsh elements, Shawnee State not only came out on top but also delivered the lowest single-round team score of the tournament. Their opening-round 391 stood alone as the only team-round under 400 across the entire field.

Key contributors to the Bears’ success included Aly Wellman and Sidnea Belville, both of whom earned spots on the OCU All-Tournament Team. Wellman led the team with a third-place finish after carding a 191 over 36 holes, securing her second straight top-three finish at this event. Belville followed closely, landing in fifth place for her second career top-five and fourth top-10 finish in just six appearances for Shawnee State.

The team’s depth was on full display as Brynna Spencer secured a career-best sixth-place finish, bouncing back from a 96 on Day 1. Cali Baird, Emily Weber, and individual competitor Bree Stid also contributed significantly, finishing eighth, ninth, and tenth respectively. For Spencer, the result marked her second consecutive top-10 finish.

Rounding out the lineup were Brooklyn Webb and Maggie Siley, who finished 14th and tied for 15th. Their efforts capped off a strong showing for all eight Shawnee State golfers.
