Although Midway University’s women’s golf team saw its run at the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championships come to an end on Wednesday, freshman standout Kasey Cameron ensured the Eagles would remain in the spotlight through the final round of play.

Cameron’s impressive debut season continued on the national stage, as she advanced as one of just six individual qualifiers to make the cut for the final two days of competition. After two rounds, she was tied for 27th with a nine-over-par 153—marking the best two-round score by a Midway player in program history at the NAIA Championships.

Her strong opening performance secured her place in a distinguished group, becoming only the second player in school history to make the individual cut at the event, following in the footstep’s of 2017 qualifier Kathryn Lawler.

Despite a challenging third round on Thursday, Cameron delivered a statement finish to her freshman campaign. On Friday, she bounced back with her best round of the tournament, firing a one-over-par 73. She finished the four-day event at 21-over-par with a total score of 309, another impressive milestone in a season filled with them.

Cameron’s final round was a display of grit and consistency. Starting on the back nine, she recorded birdies on the par-four 13th and 18th holes and was even par through her first 11 holes. A late double bogey on the third hole briefly disrupted her momentum, but she quickly rebounded with five straight pars and capped off her week with a birdie on the par-five ninth—a hole that had challenged her just the day before.

The Richmond, Kentucky native has had a season to remember. Named both the River States Conference Golfer and Newcomer of the Year, she played a key role in leading Midway to its first RSC championship and national tournament appearance since 2021. Her performance at nationals not only solidifies her place in Midway’s golf history but also sets the stage for what promises to be a remarkable collegiate career.
