Murr Claims Individual Crown as Dallas Baptist Dominates Team Championship at NCAA Division II Nationals

The 2025 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf National Championships concluded with a pair of standout performances — one individual, one team — as Cal State San Marcos senior Madison Murr captured the individual national title, and Dallas Baptist claimed its third team championship.
Murr delivered a masterful three-round performance at minus-14, finishing with rounds of 69, 64, and 69 for a total of 202. Her consistency across 54 holes separated her from a competitive field, including runner-up Gracie Grant of Dallas Baptist, who closed with consecutive rounds of 66 to finish at 11-under. Murr’s win marks just the second time a CSUSM player has claimed the NCAA Division II individual crown.
Her performance helped lift the Cougars to a team total of 849, good for second place at 15-under-par. The result earned CSUSM the No. 2 seed entering medal match play, where they prepared to face No. 7-seed Central Missouri in the quarterfinals.
While Murr led the individual leaderboard, it was Dallas Baptist that commanded the team competition. The Patriots posted the lowest aggregate score of the tournament at 18-under 846, propelled by top finishes from Gracie Grant and Ella Cheek, who tied for fourth at 8-under. Their strong stroke play set the foundation for a dominant run through match play.
In the championship match, DBU faced No. 20 Central Missouri. After dropping the first point of the day, the Patriots responded with four straight victories to secure a 4-1 win and their third national title. The team’s road to the championship included defeating both the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, underscoring their depth, resilience, and experience in high-pressure situations.
Cal State San Marcos was bolstered by key contributions beyond Murr. Regan Barton delivered two rounds in the 60s and tied for 13th at 3-under. Kiara Hernandez finished tied for 25th at 1-under, while Diana Delgado and Makenna Cabardo added rounds that helped secure the Cougars’ high seeding for match play.
The final team leaderboard saw fierce competition at the top, with just eight strokes separating the top five programs. Flagler, Findlay, and Anderson followed CSUSM and DBU with totals of 851, 852, and 854, respectively.
The individual competition reflected the overall quality of the championship field. West Texas A&M’s Anna Nomrowski took third at 9-under, while three players shared fourth at 8-under, including Cheek, Western Washington’s Lauren F. Lee, and Lander’s Kaja Lindqvist.
