Emory Captures NCAA DIII Women’s Golf Title Behind Code’s Record-Breaking Performance

The Emory University women’s golf team has once again reached the pinnacle of NCAA Division III golf, winning the 2025 national championship at Kingsmill Resort. The Eagles, who last captured the title in 2022 and finished runner-up in 2024, solidified their place among the sport’s elite programs with a dominant performance that rewrote the record books.

Emory’s four-day total of 1168 (+16) set a new NCAA Division III championship record, eclipsing the previous mark of 1175, also held by the Eagles from their 2022 title run. The team also made history with the two lowest single-round scores in tournament history, carding a 287 on Wednesday and a 289 on Thursday.

The championship run was led by sophomore Carys Code, who emerged from a tight leaderboard to win the individual title with a tournament-record score of 285. Entering the final round tied for the lead at 2-under with George Fox’s Alison Takamiya, Code delivered a composed 71 (-1) on Friday. Her steady round, highlighted by 15 pars and two birdies, secured a two-stroke victory over runner-up Cecilia Jia of Carnegie Mellon.

Takamiya, who surged into contention with a 3-under final round, ultimately placed third. Rounding out the top five were Emory freshman Zimo Li in fourth and Rena Kaneko in fifth. Li, recently named the WGCA DIII Freshman of the Year, matched Code with a final-round 71, closing her tournament at 289 (+1).

Emory’s depth was evident throughout the tournament. Sophomore Esther Jung earned a tie for 17th with a score of 297 (+9), while senior Ellen Dong, the program’s first individual national champion, tied for 43rd at 301 (+13). Fellow senior Sharon Mun rounded out the squad, finishing tied for 72nd at 305 (+17).

With this victory, Emory joins Methodist and Rhodes as the only programs in NCAA Division III women’s golf history to claim multiple national titles
